Saturday

Wow I can't believe it's Saturday already. The last few days have been pretty hectic with wedding planning. We finally picked and booked our resort and I am so happy this is done. It feels so good, now we're just working on getting invites out. The wedding isn't until Jan 2013 but deposits have to be in by the end of July so we are in a rush to get them made and out. I must say I was very surprised/impressed with myself with how they turned out. I never thought in a million year I'd be able to make my own invites but since I've started blogging I've learned so much about photoshop and surprise myself on a daily bases.
I wanted to thank all of my sponsors for the month of June! If you're looking for something to do today head over to my right sidebar and check them out I'm sure you will like what you see. If anyone is interested in sponsor swapping for July email me at mavymaydesigns@gmail.com.

Do you have any plans for the weekend? I will be working all weekend :(

What I've Been Lovin

Sunshine and Daisies!
Daisies have always been my favourite flower. I use to love tying the stems together to make a head piece or just tucking one or two behind my ear. I can't seem to get enough of the sun lately trying to soak it up whenever possible.

DIY Rope Belt

Over the weekend I found myself in need of a white belt and thought of all the rope belts I've been seeing around lately. Originally I want to make a belt with a big figure eight knot in the front but the rope I had was not thick eoungh for it so I came up with my own.

All you need to make this is some rope.

Cut 3 pieces of rope each long enough to wrap around your waist twice plus a few extra
inches so you have enough to tie it with a bit left to hanging.
Fold the 3 pieces in half and tape down.
Divide the the rope into 3 strands to braid, with each strand having 2 pieces of rope
Start braiding leaving a small loop at the top for the knot to fit though
Once you have it braided to your desired length tie a knot at the bottom. Leave a bit of
rope to hang and cut the rest off.
That's it put it on and pull the knot threw the loop, adjust by pulling tighter.

There you have it!

Happy Tuesday!!

Day at the Beach

Yesterday was such a gorgeous day we thought it would be perfect to take the dogs to the lake. Waylon had never been in the water until yesterday, it took a little bit of coaxing from Reese but he finally went in. We were in a park so unfortunately we had to keep him on his leash, he doesn't listen quite as well as Reese does yet.

They had a blast and were so tired by end. Oh I guess I should tell you that Waylon is the shepherd mix and Reese is the Rottweiler that might help.

What are your plans for the weekend? I have a friends baby shower on Saturday. I'm looking forward to seeing friends I haven't seen for a while.
Hope you all have a great weekend!!

Destination Unknown

For those of you who don't know, my boyfriend and I are in the middle of planning our wedding now. We are do a destination wedding in January 2013, which is sneeking up super fast. I figured a destination wedding would be the easiest to plan all you really have to do is pick a place, your songs, your dresses and pretty much everything else is decided by what the resort you picked as to offer, which is true for the most part but not really that simple. You need to rely so heavily on other people to get you information and it may take them a few days to get back to you and it can be pretty frustrating but I guess that would be the same for any wedding. We are so close to picking a resort, I'm getting so excited. I have been to two destination wedding that I was in and we had a blast. I can't wait for it to be all of our family and friends away together for a week this time.

I love the idea of getting married right on the beach barefoot. Now to pick a dress. Did you have a destination wedding? I love would to to hear from you if you have any advise tips or tricks.

Top Five To Try - DIY Edition

Let me just start by saying I love pinterest. There are so many great inspiring things you can find and great DIY ideas. These are the top 5 things on my list right now to try.

DIY coffee sugar scrub. I'm always looking for homemade scrubs and lotion. This way you know exactly what you are putting on your skin.

Hair bows, these are so cute. I want to try to make actual bow ties also, my boyfriend love wearing them.

How good does this candy cane vodka look. I know it's not christmas time but who cares!

How great is this! You can add hearts (or whatever shapes you want) to your clothing.

I love this clutch and how easy does this look! My boyfriend bought me a sewing machine for my birthday back in January and I think this will be the first :s thing I make with it.

Hope you all had a good weekend and a great start to the week! Today I'm meeting some friends for a walk along the water with our dogs. We all have Rottweilers so we are getting them together for a play date and I am pretty excited!
Happy Wednesday!!

Eating My Graden

I originally started this post to ask for your help identify this bug. I thought, at first that it was some sort of ladybug which creeped me out big time because I do not like lady bugs.  I was googling everything to try to find out what they are and had no luck (clearly I suck at googling things) BUT thanks to good ol' Facebook all I had to do was take some pictures of these guys and ask. I got my answer in a matter of minutes. I now know that these lil guys are not in the lady bug family at all, they are Lily Beetle, which would explain my lily plant.

These little jerks have devoured almost my whole plant! The only part still left is the top, where they are doing it like mad and making little poo babies (babies that look like poos). I have never seen anything like it before and it freaks me right out.

My question now is have you had this problem before? If so how do you get rid of them and their babies?
